Alabama Crimson Tide vs. UAB Blazers Recap

Alabama catcher Will Haynie hit a three-run homer in the bottom of the second inning, leading the Crimson Tide to a win over in-state rival UAB. Nick Eicholtz (2-0) started the game for the Tide and allowed a run in 3.2 innings of work. The Tide's bullpen took over and shut down UAB for the rest of the night, as five relievers combined to pitch 5.1 hitless innings. Alabama first baseman Cody Henry was 2-for-3 with a run scored and an RBI, and J.C. Wilhite had two hits before pitching a scoreless ninth inning to clinch the win. Alabama swept both games against the Blazers this season. The Tide improved to 19-16 while UAB fell to 21-14.

Mississippi Rebels vs. UAB Blazers Recap

Defense was the name of the game in this one. Most of the major runs were scored in the early stages of the game. UAB came out firing in the first inning as both Davis and Vincent scored on back to back singles from Mims and Tresgallo. Ole Miss came firing back in the second with a point from Orvis on a single by Lartigue. UAB proved too strong in the end, however, with 8 runs on the day. Neither team came with an error in a very clean game of baseball. Winning pitcher was Niquette, the tough look loser was Anderson, and a 2 inning, 1 hit save came from Lau.

NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament: Rounds 2 & 3 - Session 3: Kentucky vs. Cincinnati & UAB vs. UCLA Recap

UAB and UCLA played a third round match up of two double digit seeds on Saturday. Robert Brown had a big game for UAB going 10 of 20 from the floor to score 25, but only one other Blazer was able to score in double figures. UCLA had a much more balanced attack with all five starters in double figures and Tony Parker dominated with 28 points and 12 boards. Kentucky was still on their pursuit of perfection when they took on the Cincinatti Bearcats. Cincy was actually able to outrebound UK 45 to 38, but they only shot 31% from the floor.
