NBA Preseason: Toronto Raptors vs. Cleveland Cavaliers Recap

For the defending Eastern Conference champion Cleveland Cavaliers, no LeBron James equals little or no offense. With James now sitting out for the rest of the exhibition schedule, the Cavs were sent to their 6 defeat of the preseason in as many tries.

The Toronto Raptors, last years top team in the East after the regular season, looked impressive in dismantling last years NBA finals representative, albeit minus maybe the greatest player on the planet.

The Raptors spread the scoring around, with only two players scoring in double-digits, but 5 netting within 2-points of scoring 10 on the evening. Neither team shot the ball poorly, but there was just a sense of lethargy that surround the game as each approach the regular season opener in just over a week with hopes of a title run.

Toronto Raptors Roster

It has been a busy time for Canadian hoopsters this off season they sighed Kyle Lowry he put up 17 points a game last season. Reivis Vasquez will be playing this season for them he comes from a result of a trade involving Rudy Gray. The media has seen James Johnson play and say look for a lot of back up help and few points to be put up by him this season. Also recently they added Jordan Hamilton he will probably be featured on the perimeters. Word is out to that the power forwards will start in the following order Amir Johnson/Pattrick Patterson/Tyler Hansbrough . Also look for Lowry to get point guard support via Greivis Vasquez/Will Cherry who should be decent but not great when they come off the bench this season. It has also been confirmed that Patrick Patterson will be back you might recall he played just about 48 games straight last year but only averaged about 5 rebounds a game.

Toronto Raptors Fan Experience

The stadium is really meant for hockey but as with most pro sports arenas it transitions very well for Basketball play. The air Canada building holds about 19,800 for a regular season basketball game . Though the building opened in 1999 the NBA came in and they did some upgrades it has a top rating for being able to see from almost every site line and the lighting is very clear for basketball. If you are up in Canada and plan to head to a game be careful on Gardiner Expressway and Lakeshore Blvd very fast moving your better of taking mass transit and the subway isn’t far. The bath rooms unless your VIP though have seen better days. The food is pretty typical to.

Toronto Raptors Trivia

The Raports owners were pivotal in in ending a lockout a few years back the players came up with different collective bargaining agreement to end the lockout, but it meant that 16 regular season games had to be cancelled, 8 of which were home games. The Team really didn’t do any better or worse then average as a result.

Toronto Raptors History

The history of the Toronto Raptors goes back 1995 when the NBA wanted to move up into Canada. The team wanted to big so they named themselves after the dino. There really hasn’t been anything huge to brag about with this team over the years they only have 2 Divison titles. That was help to star power from ld Tracy McGrady, Chauncey Billups, Dee Brown, Roy Rogers and John Thoma. In 2002 things got ugly again they had a record number of Ijuries in one season for the NBA. While there injuries went down two years later the winning did to (27–55) was the record in 2005 the fifth worst that season in the NBA. Improvents happened from 2006-2010 when theyt had Chris Bosh playing along with one of the NBA’S best point gaurds in that division Andrea Andrea Bargnan., Today they continue to struggle to get big names and to even make it above a record of 500 for the season.

Toronto Raptors Fan Info

Raports fans are far more into hockey then they are into basketball and it shows the games don’t always sell out unless there is major star power like King James coming. The fans are very friendly towards kids you see a lot of families with both boys and girls sitting down on the court. The fans cheer and are allowed to bring posters. It is the type of crowd that will hop on and cheer if there is a chance of playoffs but once that is over usually not many people show up to watch. They do know basketball pretty well the people who do go see the games in person.

Toronto Raptors Rumors

Patrick Peaterson could get cut from the team for Domestic abuse. The team doesn’t want to have to face what has been going on in the NFL he is a free agent it it might be more hassle to keep him on the team. He also might be called to court and would miss a lot of time if that were to happen. NBA who already as issues with sponsors right now doesn’t want to deal with that either but there isn’t all the facts yet in this case it doubtful though an other team would pick him up this season. Maybe someone small like the Sixers.
