Temple Owls vs. Penn State Nittany Lions Recap

Temple earned its first win over in-state powerhouse Penn State since World War II on national TV Saturday afternoon. The Owls won by shutting out the Nittany Lions during the final three quarters at Lincoln Financial Field. Temple's defense gave up just 180 yards on the day and allowed the Nittany Lions to convert only two third downs all afternoon. Owls running back Jahad Thomas was Temple's offensive star with 135 rushing yards and two touchdowns, including a 24-yarder that essentially clinched the game in the fourth quarter. The many Penn State supporters in the crowd of 69,000 left disappointed, while Owls students celebrated the historic victory throughout the afternoon and evening.

On Saturday November 15th the Penn State Nittany Lions hosted the Temple Owls. The game started very slow as neither team was able to score a touchdown in the games opening quarter. The Lions held a 6-3 lead heading into the 2nd half. The offense picked up in the second half as Akeel Lynch scored the games first touchdown when the Lions had a 2 play 75 yard drive. Lynch broke a long run of 38 yards for the score. Then Bill Belton scored on an 8 yard TD run for the Lions. 11 seconds later the Owls answered with their first TD.
