New York Rangers vs. San Jose Sharks Recap

The New York Rangers hosted the San Jose Sharks, all the way from the west coast. The Sharks were looking for their 5th victory against a single defeat on the new NHL season, but the Rangers would keep them from reaching that goal.

New York would play outstanding hockey defense and goalie Antti Raanata would turn away all 22 Shark shots on goal to pitch a hockey equivalent of a shut out. While the Rangers defense was shutting down the San Jose scoring attempts, the offense was spreading around the wealth with four Ranger skaters each netting one goal apiece.

The Rangers also spread their scoring around the 3 periods of hockey. New York opened the scoring about halfway through the 1st period, then at almost exactly the same juncture of the second 20-minutes, found the net again on a power play goal by Mats Zuccarello.

New York finished the night with a pair of 3rd period goals to finish off the Sharks and set the final 4-goal margin of victory.

New York Islanders vs. San Jose Sharks Recap

East met west as the Sharks traveled from San Jose all the way to New York to take on the Islanders. The Sharks looked good early on as they came out and scored first on a goal by Joe Pavelski. The Sharks would take the 1-0 lead into the 1st intermission. From their it would be back and forth in the 2nd period as the Islanders scored in the first 21 seconds, but the Sharks would respond 20 seconds later. Both teams would trade goals and head to the 3rd period tied at 3. The third period would be dominated by the Islanders as they would score on goals by Kyle Okposo, Brock Nelson, and Frans Nielsen to go on to win the game easily.

New Jersey Devils Vs. San Jose Sharks Recap

The Sharks' Joe Pavelski and Brent Burns both scored in a shootout, giving San Jose a road win over the Devils. The shootout saw more scoring than regulation time, which the Sharks led for most of the night on Patrick Marleau's goal two minutes into the first period. Adam Henrique tied it for the Devils by scoring a power play goal with less than four minutes to play in the third. The Devils had six power plays on the night to the Sharks' two. San Jose goalie Martin Jones earned a win in net with 31 saves on 32 shots, improving his record to 4-0. The Devils' Corey Schneider stopped 33 of 34 shots.

While Los Angeles will be an early test , the Sharks don't have a cupcake schedule.They season will have its ups and downs . San Jose Sharks will have a tough test , going thru many teams twice. They first play Chicago at Chicago on November 9th. Then they get their rematch at home on January 31st 2015. The Shark will play tough ,but to be in playoff contention they must win their crucial games. The Shark are looking at a very tough season as it begins with Los Angeles it will also end with Los Angeles in regularly play. After their last game with LA the Shark is they have earned a spot will compete in the playoffs. Of course the winner of the playoffs get to play in the Stanley Cup a prize that every team is going towards.
