Texas Longhorns vs. San Diego Toreros Recap

In what looked like a battle on the mound for most of the game, the University of San Diego Toreros had a late offensive explosion to sink the Longhorns from UT and get a Top-10 win on Sunday’s second game of a doubleheader. PJ Conlon, the Toreros’ starting hurler, only gave up three hits and three walks through six, and no runs. Conversely, the Longhorn’s bullpen was thrown into the fire with six runs scored in the 9th to give USD a commanding lead and the eventual win. The Toreros improve to 4-6 for the season, while Texas drops to 8-4.

Due to severe weather conditions in the Longhorn's baseball stadium, the February 14th game featuring the Texas Longhorns and the San Diego Toreros has been cancelled. The teams will now only play two games of the scheduled three-game series. The first will be played tomorrow morning at 11 AM. Texas is currently ranked ninth in the country and could use this opportunity against San Diego to sharpen their skills before the postseason begins in a few months. The double-header that the teams will use to make up this lost game should provide a nice chance for this Longhorn squad to gain some much-needed experience.

On the night of February 27, 2015 the Texas Longhorns took on the San Diego Toreros in a baseball game for the ages. After the star spangled banner was finished and the game started - you would have thought you were watching the home run derby. all in all there were 7 home runs split between the two teams. The starting pitchers only completed 3.2 innings combined. By the end of the game, each team had burned through their bullpens. They play aanother game tomorrow night - it will be interesting to see how the game goes with the pitchers have very little rest.
