Alabama Crimson Tide vs. Samford Bulldogs Recap

Alabama freshman pitcher Jake Walters had a strong game, leading the Crimson Tide to a midweek win over Samford. Walters, who made his first start of the season, tossed five shutout innings and struck out nine Bulldogs batters to improve to 2-0 on the season with a 1.86 ERA. For the Tide's offense, Mikey White led the way with a 3-for-4 night that included two runs scored and four RBI. White is hitting .420 on the season. Alabama cleanup hitter Casey Hughston went 2-for-4 with his fourth home run of the season and scored and drove in two runs. Hughston is hitting .473 on the season. Samford's Austin Edens went 3-for-3, and Hunter Swilling had two hits and two RBI.

Auburn Tigers vs. Samford Bulldogs Recap

On Saturday November 22nd the 14th ranked Auburn Tigers hosted 7-3 Samford. Neither team was able to score in the opening quarter and the home fans were getting restless. It wasn't until midway through the 2nd quarter that someone finally scored and it was Samford when Tony Philpot caught a 7 yard TD pass from Michael Eubank to finish off a 74 yard drive that lasted 7 plays and almost 4 minutes. The Tigers quickly answered with a touchdown when Quan Bray ran one in from 23 yards out. Cameron Artis-Payne had a 7 yard TD run with 40 seconds left in the first half for Auburn.

TCU Horned Frogs vs. Samford Bulldogs Recap

TCU opened their regular season slate against the Division I-AA Samford Bulldogs, and dominated from start to finish as expected. The Horned Frogs held Samford to a mere 143 total yards of offense, while compiling over 500 themselves. QB Trevone Boykin, who wasn't guaranteed to start over incoming QB Matt Joeckel, took advantage of this first game, throwing for over 300 yards and accounting for three total touchdowns. The Horned Frogs held Samford to merely nine first downs all game long, and forced two turnovers on defense. Receiver Kolby Listenbee was the receipient of both passing touchdowns from Trevone Boykin.
