Nba Preseason: Brooklyn Nets vs. Philadelphia 76ers Recap

The Philadelphia 76ers and Brooklyn Nets played a tight preseason basketball game yesterday in New York. Both teams shared the first half, each dominating one of the first two quarters.

Philly vaulted out to a 9 point 1st quarter lead, only to see the Nets outscore them in the 2nd 12-minute period to take a 1-point lead into the half time locker room.

The second half was give and take the whole way. Neither team could muster much offense in the 3rd quarter, tallying a total of 35-points between them. As a reference the champion Golden State Warriors scored that many points a couple nights ago all by themselves.

The 4th period was a back and forth affair, with Philadelphia looking like they were going to steal their 3rd win of the preseason to even their record, but it was Brooklyn who made the important late shots to match the 76ers with their second preseason win.

NBA Preseason: Philadelphia 76ers vs. Washington Wizards Recap

Even if you are initially not expected to produce high numbers early, things evolve sometimes against all odds. That's just the case with Wizards' rookie swingman Kelly Oubre Jr. The 19 years old notched 16 points against the 76ers, being instrumental in his team's win. Center Marcin Gortat also scored for 16. But the win is collective as the Wizards led their opponents to 27 turnovers (over 23 for them). John Wall's 14 assists were also key. The Sixers were completely outscored, only managing to outperform the players from Washington when the Wizards' key players were benched to allow playing time to the whole team.

NBA Preseason: New York Knicks vs. Philadelphia 76ers Recap

The New York Knicks took on the Philadelphia 76ers in a preseason game that took place in Madison square garden. The Knicks we playing without their star rookie, Kristaps Porzingis, who was out with a upper quadriceps strain. The game started off with the Knicks taking an early lead before the 76ers got back into the game. Early in the second Quarter Derrick Williams start to take over the paint, scoring dunk after dunk, and leading the Knicks to another 10 point lead. The plucky 76ers fought back once again late in the fourth quarter, but the Knicks held on and got the meaningless victory.

Here are a couple of fun facts from the Philadelphia 76ers. Allen Iverson and Dikembe Mumtambo went to the same college in Georgetown. The team does not have a player under 6 foot 5 for the 2014-2015 season, which should bring a lot of height to the Philadelphia 76ers this year. Hopefully, that brings them a winning season this year.

Philadelphia 76ers History

The team started back in 1937. It was not in Philadelphia however until 1963. Will Chambelin was one of the Philadelphia 76ers biggest superstar in the 1960s. Some of the best years of the team came in the 1966-1967 when Will Chamberlin almost won the scoring title. The team in the early 1970s was not good as they failed to make the playoffs. The team did however return to the playoffs in 1976. this helped under new order in 1976 Fitz Eugene Dixon who wanted to spend money to win. The team had a few superstars in the 1980s, which included Moses Malone and the great one and only Charles Barkley who everyone loves to hate. However in 1992-1993, Charles Barkley was traded as well as some new coaches came in. This rebuilding process brought the 76ers back to the Playoffs in 1998-1999. the 76ers made the playoffs a lot in the 2000's. Hopefully, the team has a winning season this year to keep the winning tradition alive.

Philadelphia 76ers Fan Info

The Philadelphia 76ers fans are very passionate. That is just like the other teams in Philadelphia such as the Philadelphia Flyers and Philadelphia Eagles. As passionate as the fans are, they can be extremely tough on their players when they are not doing good. The fans come to the Philadelphia 76ers games in their team gear whether it is a t shirt or a team logo sweatshirt. These items can be sold in sporting good stores or online such as e bay. Hopefully, the fans can enjoy another winning season during the 2014-2015 NBA season. This team has great potential in my opinion.

Philadelphia 76ers Rumors

It is being reported that Bogans was traded from The Cleveland Cavaliers to the Philadelphia 76ers. Other sources are reporting that Malcolm Lee will also sign with the 76ers. Prior to the signing, Malcolm Lee worked out for the Lakers and Nets. The Malcolm Lee signing is stating that this is a non guarantee signing. The team seems to making these moves in order to keep the team strong and being put in position for a post season birth. Whether these signings work out is still remain to be seen.
