NBA Preseason: Miami Heat Vs. Orlando Magic Recap

After roughly 3½ weeks of daily practice in preparation for essentially meaningless preseason exhibition games, the 2015 NHL season dropped the puck for real last night. At the United Center in Chicago, Illinois, the Blackhawks celebrated their 2014 Stanley Cup championship before the first puck was dropped for the new season. Their opponents, the New York Rangers had a different kind of celebration in mind.

After patiently enduring the lengthy pre-game celebration, the Rangers started the scoring less than 2 minutes into the season opener on an Oscar Lindberg goal. Artemi Panarin would answer at the 14:24 mark of the 1st period, but in a flurry New York would fire home another pair of goals to finish out the first 20-minutes of hockey.

Teuvo Teravainen would bring the Blackhawks back within a single goal early in the second period, but the final 30 plus minutes of hockey would be a defensive struggle, neither team able to find the back of the net. New York had skated into Chicago and methodically spoiled the Blackhawks Stanley Cup celebration.

Orlando Magic History

Beginning in 1989, the team has been very successful in their time. They've managed to make it to the playoffs in more than half of their years being active, making it fourteen times within twenty-four years. Just barely behind the Miami Heat, they are the second most successful of the four teams that had been brought into the league between 88-89. Another incredible feat is that until next year, they have been the only professional sports team in the major sports league to be located in Orlando. They are known for many different areas, but one of their most successful eras was when they managed to draft Shaquille O'Neal into their team. Just this feat is considered one of the biggest prizes received from a draft. The team really lucked out on their draft and managed to make NBA History by becoming the first team to ever have the first fifty win season in the franchise's history!
