Florida Gators vs. New Mexico State Aggies Recap

Florida won coach Jim McElwain's first game easily, as the Gators gained over 600 yards on offense and scored 61 points during a rout of New Mexico State. The Gators used a two-quarterback look in winning their 26th straight opener. Treon Harris threw for 215 yards on 14-for-19 passing, while Will Grier threw for 164 yards on 15-for-17 passing. Both quarterbacks threw for two touchdowns. Florida's offense was equally potent with the backups in, as fourteen different Gators caught passes and ten carried the ball throughout the afternoon. New Mexico State got a touchdown run from Larry Rose in the second quarter, then scored a few minutes later on Tyler Rogers' pass to Teldrick Morgan, but did not score after halftime.

Arizona State Sun Devils vs. New Mexico State Aggies Recap

Arizona State took care of business against an overmatched foe Tuesday night. New Mexico State came to Phoenix with a 4-20-1 record, and left with another loss after the Sun Devils scored four times in the sixth to put the game out of reach. The sixth-ranked Sun Devils have won four straight to improve to 19-7. ASU's Trever Allen hit a three-run homer, his first of the season, to key the sixth-inning rally. Colby Woodmansee also homered for the Sun Devils. Winning pitcher Ryan Hingst (2-1) threw 2.1 innings of scoreless relief, striking out five. For the Aggies, Lucas Martinez was 2-for-4 with a run scored and an RBI.
