Shaquielle McKissic ensured that his career at Arizona State would not end Wednesday night by scoring 22 points, helping the Sun Devils to beat Connecticut in the first round of the NIT. McKissic hit eight of 14 shots to lead four Sun Devils players in double figures, which also included Savon Goodman with 14 points and nine rebounds. UConn played without their star forward Ryan Boatwright, who was injured in Sunday's conference championship loss to SMU. Rodney Purvis led UConn with 19 points and Daniel Hamilton had 16 points and seven rebounds. Arizona State improved to 18-15 and will face Richmond in the tournament's second round. Connecticut's season ended with a 20-15 record.
