NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament: South Regional - Session 1: Duke vs. Utah & Gonzaga vs. UCLA Recap

The Duke Blue Devils took on the Utah Utes. Both teams were coming off good wins, and look to advance to the elite 8. Both teams came out struggling offensively, and could not score. The scoring picked up in the last 8 minutes of the first half. Justise Winslow would finally start taking over and give the blue devils a 5 point lead into half time. Brandon Taylor of the Utes kept them in the game putting up 15 points, and grabbing 5 boards. Outside of that not much help came, and Justise Winslow poured it on and scored 21 points and grabbed 10 rebounds. Freshmen sensation Jahilil Okafor was a little unknown as he only put up points because of early foul trouble. The Blue Devils would go on to win the game, and advance to play Gonzaga.

The Gonzaga Bulldogs took on the UCLA Bruins. Many experts believed that the Bruins did not deserve to be in the tourney, however they had proved they belonged in the dance as they made it to the sweet 16. However they were facing one of the best teams in the Gonzaga Bulldogs. The Bulldogs would come out quickly, and take an early lead. Przemek Karnowski would have his best game of the season and put up 19 and grab 9 rebounds for the Bulldogs. Along with help from Kyle Wiltjer they would prove to much for Tony Parker, and the Bruins. The Zags would go on to win by 12.
