Green Bay Packers Vs. St. Louis Rams Recap
October 11, 2015
The rest of the National Football League should sit up and take notice, as one of the preseason favorites to contend for the Super Bowl is not only loaded with a rifle armed quarterback leading a highly potent offense, but these Green Bay Packers have a defensive unit to be reckoned with.
For the second week in a row, their defense team upstaged the Packer’s offense. The 1st quarter of play was quick evidence that this Packer team is evenly balanced, as the offense took their first drive 56 yards against a pretty respectable St. Louis Rams defense with Aaron Rodgers finding Ty Montgomery for the first points of the game. The two top defenses would then control the rest of the 1st 15-minutes until Qyinten Rollins snatched an errant Nick Foles pass, racing 45 yards to pay dirt for a Green Bay pick-6 and a 2 touchdown lead.
The Rams would make a game of it in the 3rd quarter, scoring twice, the first on a nice 80-yard drive for a Tavon Austin TD catch from Foles. Greg Zuerlein would add a 42-yard field goal to bring the Rams with 4 points.
The Packers would then take control of the game defensively again, stalling the all the final St. Louis drives, while Aaron Rodgers hurled a long TD to James Jones, plus Mason Crosby tacked on a late Packer field goal to set the final 2-touchdown margin of victory and keep the Pack unbeaten in the 2015 season.
Arizona Cardinals Vs. St. Louis Rams Recap
October 4, 2015
The Arizona Cardinals hosted the St. Louis Rams yesterday afternoon in Arizona, with designs on taking complete control of the NFL West division with their 4th win of the 2015 NFL season. St. Louis, once the home of the Cardinals, had other ideas.
The Rams would find what was projected in the preseason as one of the stouter defenses in pro football, and held the vaunted Cardinal air attack in check most of the afternoon.
Carson Palmer had sliced 3 opposing defenses apart, leading Arizona to their first 3 wins without a loss, but although he managed to connect on 29 passes, the level of efficiency was far less than the three previous weeks. Nick Foles on the other hand was methodical and efficient behind center for the Rams. Foles only had a total of 171 passing yards, meager on a normal NFL Sunday afternoon in the era of the pass, but 3 of his 16 completions were for St. Louis scores.
The most important statistic on the books that played a part in this outcome was turnovers. The Rams picked Palmer off one time, and one of his 29 completions was fumbled by Larry Fitzgerald ending a Cardinal drive. The Rams evened their season record at a 2 wins against 2 losses, inching closer to the top of the division, now just one game off Arizona for first place.

St. Louis Rams Vs. Pittsburgh Steelers Recap

The Steelers got a road win in St. Louis, but had little reason to celebrate as franchise quarterback Ben Roethlisberger suffered a major injury to his knee. Roethlisberger will miss Week 4 and is out indefinitely. The Steelers' offense had trouble moving the ball with and without Roethlisberger, managing only one touchdown on Le'Veon Bell's one-yard touchdown run early in the second quarter. Bell finished with 62 yards on 19 carries in his season debut. Roethlisberger finished 20-for-24 for 192 yards with one interception. Backup Michael Vick came in after the injury. Antonio Brown caught 11 passes for 108 yards for Pittsburgh, while the Rams' Kenny Britt caught seven passes for 102 yards.
