Green Bay Packers Vs. San Diego Chargers Recap

All that the Green Bay Packer faithful can do leaving Lambeau Field yesterday afternoon is breath a heavy sigh of relief. The Packers remained unbeaten yesterday, hosting the San Diego Chargers.

While one might think the chilly temps of Wisconsin would adversely affect the boys from So Cal, it did not. After two Green Bay first quarter touchdowns, Charger’s QB Philip Rivers started to really heat up the cold Lambeau air.

Rogers would set a franchise record on the afternoon with over 500 yards passing and nearly doubling the man often mentioned as the best active quarterback in the game today. Aaron Rodgers threw for about half the yardage Rivers did on this Sunday, but matched him with 2 TD passes on the day.

It was the final drive that made the difference. San Diego rallied and drove the length of the field, sitting 1st and goal from the 3rd line, seemingly perched on the doorstep of sending the game into overtime. It was then that the Packer defense, riddled by Rivers all day, tightened up and thwarted all 4 attempts to tie the score.

Green Bay escaped with their record unblemished, but the Chargers last ditch failed hopes left them at a disappointing 2-4 to begin the 2015 season.

San Diego Chargers vs. Pittsburgh Steelers Recap

The San Diego Super Chargers hosted the Pittsburgh Steelers on Monday night. The Steelers were once again without their star QB Ben Roethelsiberger, and Mike Vick would lead them. On the flip side San Diego was getting Antonio Gates back from his suspension. His presence was felt real quickly as he would score a TD on the first possesion. Philip Rivers would light up all night as he would throw for 365 yards and score 2 touchdowns. On the other side of the field it would Be Le'Veon Bell who would star running for 111 yards. The game was back and forth in the 4th Quarter. Down 17-10 Pittsburgh would strike on a 72 yard TD Pass to Marcus Wheaton. The Chargers would respond with a FG. The Pittsburgh would drive down the field and score on a Bell touchdown as time ran out to win the game.

San Diego Chargers vs. Cleveland Browns Recap

Woe is the fortunes of the Cleveland Browns. Even after leading most of the ball game out in San Diego as the Brownies tried to even their 2015 record at 2 wins and 2 losses, in the end fate doomed the Browns again.

Cleveland quarterback Josh Brown played a superb game for 3½ quarters of football, throwing for over 350 yards and a pair of Browns scores. His counterpart Philip Rivers nearly matched completion for completion throwing for 2 more total yards in the game. But it was Rivers’ three TD’s and late drive heroics that made the difference.

After a beautiful 10-play drive with minutes left in the 4th quarter, McCown was masterful leading the Browns to a late TD. With the game on the line, he found his wide receiver Taylor Gabriel for a game tying 2-point conversion. The Browns fans thought for sure they had earned a chance at overtime.

Rivers and the home field Chargers had other ideas. The San Diego offense navigated 57 yards in 8 perfectly time plays, to leave just enough ticks left on the clock for Josh Lambo to attempt a 39 yard field goal for victory. The kick missed, but as if the hand of fate was just waiting to hand Brown’s fans disappointment again, the defense was called for off sides and Lambo would get a second chance. From 5 yards closer, his kick sailed through the uprights and San Diego’s record was even at 2-2 while Cleveland lost again to fall to 1-3.
