Jacksonville Jaguars vs. Houston Texans Recap

The Jacksonville Jaguars hosted their divisional rivals the Houston Texans Sunday afternoon in an important AFC South Division gridiron battle. Both teams had lost every game but one to start the 2015 season, so another loss would almost end any of what were already feeble playoff hopes entering the season.

Texans quarterback Brian Hoyer rewarded the coaching decision to move him into the starting QB spot by hitting on 2-dozen of his 36 passing attempts for just under 300 yards. Most notable of those 24 strikes was the 3 that went for Houston TD’s.

DeAndre Hopkins was on the end of nearly half of Hoyer’s completions, a pair of those for touchdowns. Arian Foster was snagged the third TD pass, plus added some ground yardage to help keep the Jags defense at bay.

Speaking of defense, it was the Texan’s D that really stood out on this Sunday afternoon. Houston picked off Jacksonville signal-caller Blake Bortles 3 times, twice by Andre Hal, one of those a pick-6 touchdown. While Houston won their second game in 5 tries, Jacksonville fell for another week to slip down to 5 defeats against their lone victory in 2015

Houston Texans Vs. Indianapolis Colts Recap

The Indianapolis Colts were once again without Andrew Luck when they went to take on their division rivals the Houston Texans. Matt Hasselbeck had another good game completing 18 of 29 passes for 213 yards and throwing 2 touchdowns. Frank GOre rushed for 98 yards and a score on his 22 carries. Andre Johnson finally was able to show some signs of life catching 6 balls for 77 yards and 2 scores. DeAndre Hopkins had a huge game for the Texans catching 11 balls for 169 yards. Arian Foster was held in check on the ground with only 41 yards on 19 carries.

Atlanta Falcons Vs. Houston Texans Recap

Atlanta's Devonta Freeman ran for three touchdowns in a rout of the Texans, leading the Falcons to an easy win and a 4-0 record. Freeman gained 68 yards rushing and 81 receiving and scored on runs of 16, 23, and six yards. Backfield partner Terron Ward added 72 yards and a touchdown, while Matt Ryan threw for 256 yards. The Falcons built a 42-0 lead through three quarters. After the Texans benched starting quarterback Ryan Mallett, Brian Hoyer threw for 232 yards and two touchdowns in the second half against Atlanta's second-string defense. The Falcons join the Panthers as unlikely 4-0 teams in the NFC South, but the teams won't play each other until December.
