Creighton Bluejays vs. Arkansas Razorbacks Recap

The Arkansas Razorbacks, gearing up for postseason play, took on the Creighton Bluejays Tuesday in Omaha. The scoring began in the second inning, when the Razorbacks put up a single run. The Bluejays tied the game, but Arkansas retook the lead with three runs on a triple by Bobby Wernes, a single by Rick Nomura, and another hit by Michael Bernall. Later, Andrew Benintendi would hit a solo home run, his 17th, to extend the Razorbacks lead. James Teague started for Arkansas, going just two inning, but not allowing a single baserunner. Lance Phillips, Josh Alberius, and Dominic Taccolini worked in relief.

Creighton Bluejays vs. Nebraska Cornhuskers Recap

The Nebraska Cornhuskers took on the Creighton Blue Jays in NCAA baseball action on Tuesday night in Omaha. The previously slumping Blake Headley notched three hits, and the streaking Ryan Boldt added three more for the Huskers. Jake Schleppenbach hit a two-run single in the eighth inning to give Nebraska the lead. Creighton took an early 3-0 lead off freshman Nebraska starter Garett King. King struggled with his control, walking one and throwing two wild pitches in the first inning, leading to an early run for the Blue Jays. Nebraska stopped the bleeding and tied the game in the middle innings, but Creighton retook the lead in the sixth.

Creighton Bluejays vs. Nebraska Cornhuskers Recap

Jake Placzek hit an RBI single in the ninth inning, giving Nebraska a win over their in-state rival Creighton at Omaha's TD Ameritrade Park. The 23rd-ranked Cornhuskers nearly blew a 6-2 lead, allowing Creighton to tie it up before coming through with the winning run. Nebraska improved to 27-11 on the season while the Bluejays fell to 20-9. The teams will play again May 1, but the Cornhuskers already have clinched the season series by winning their first two against the Bluejays. Cornhuskers closer Josh Roeder (1-0) got the last five outs to earn his first win of the season. Christian Cox had a key hit for the Huskers with a two-RBI double in the third inning.
