They hype was unreal going into the National Championship game due to the winner being the first undisputed national champion. The playoff game brought forth excitement and the stage was set for the two best teams in the country to compete. Oregon started off fast with an opening drive touchdown without suspended starting wide receivers. Oregon quarterback, Marcus Mariota led the ducks straight down the field with a statement touchdown. Unfortunately, this accounted for the majority of Oregon's points for the remainder of the game. Ohio State dominated the ground game with Running back Elliott as the work horse. Elliott finished with four punishing touchdowns as the buckeyes went on to win the game 42-20.

The 2015 Sugarbowl occurred on January 1, 2015, in New Orleans between the Alabama Crimson Tide and the Ohio State Buckeyes. The game began with Kyle Clinton completing the kickoff with 65 yards for Alabama. The first quarter included a 22 yard field goal by Nuernberger, a 25 yard run by Henry, a 21 yard field goal by Nuernberger, and a 15 yard pass Sims to Cooper. The second quarter included a 2 yard run by Yeldon, a 3 yard run by Elliot, and a 13 yard pass from Spencer to Thomas. The third quarter saw Smith make a 47 yard pass from Jones, a 41 yard interception return by Miller, and a 5 yard run by Sims. The last quarter witnessed an 85 yard run by Elliot, and a 6 yard pass from Sims to Cooper. Top performers included Sims of Alabama for passing, Elliot for rushing, and Cooper for Receiving. Gameball also went to Elliot for 230 yard rushing and two touchdowns with a 13 yard reception.
