Alex Destino and Connor Bright both homered Sunday, helping South Carolina to a win and a series victory at Carolina Stadium over visiting College of Charleston. The fifth-ranked Gamecocks trailed 2-0 in the first when Nick Pappas hit a two-run homer, but scored eight times from the fourth inning on. Brandon Murray got the win in relief and Taylor Widener pitched the final 2.2 innings, striking out six to earn the save. Destino, Bright, and Kyle Martin all had two hits for South Carolina, and Jordan Gore drove in two runs Sunday and four in the series. Eric Bauer took the loss for the visitors after allowing four runs in 5.1 innings.

The game between the South Carolina Gamecocks versus College of Charleston Cougars ended up being a one sided game. Despite the cougars being ahead at the beginning of the game two to zero, and being the first team to score. the South Carolina Gamecocks would eventually come back and start to make run after run until they pushed the cougars to the ground. This lead was due to the fact that Alex Destino whom made a two run shot, putting them five to three, and ensuring the that cougars would not ever come back in the game. We all know the final score of the game, but it was a great game to watch.

In the season opening game between South Carolina Gamecocks and College of Charleston Cougars held at Columbia in South Carolina, Gamecocks opened their account in the very first inning of the game. The cougars got their act together in the second inning to open their score for the game. Both teams couldn't score any runs in both the third and fourth innings of the game. With both teams tied on runs, Charleston Cougars broke the deadlock by scoring three runs in the fifth innings including a home run by Blake Butler. This lead was more than enough for the Cougars to take the game away from Gamecocks.
